April 2009 Second production run for LOFAR project |
|
After the successful production of the first batch of RFI shielded mobile air-conditioned RFI rooms, Comtest has completed the second batch for the Radio Astronomy project of ASTRON called LOFAR.
LOFAR is a new innovative sensitive astronomical observation system operating at frequencies below 250Mhz.
To produce radio pictures of the sky with adequate sharpness, cluster antennas are installed over an area of 350km in diameter.
In the Netherlands, the stations are distributed over an area of about 100 km in diameter. Several international stations are currently under constructing or planned in Germany, Sweden, the UK, France, Poland and Italy. The largest baselines across Europe will be in the order of 1500 km. The capabilities of LOFAR will increase dramatically by broadening the scope to a European level, thus creating a European Sensor Network.

Based on our yearlong experience for RF shielding design and production Comtest won the contract to produce and deliver the RF shielded rooms for the international stations. Comtest produces mobile air-conditioned RF shielded computer rooms housed in 20ft High Cube sea containers. The high performance shielding technology Comtest uses, ensures no interference will occur from the instruments housed in the RFI shielded room. The shielded rooms are constructed taking the advantage of the modular panel system, providing a high quality RF shielding level over a wide frequency range.

June 2009 COMTEST delivers RF shield room in SKA project |
|
Within the Radio Astronomy project called: SKA, Square Kilometer Array,
Comtest delivered high performance mobile RF shielded computer rooms.
Based on our yearlong experience of RF shielding design and production
Comtest produced 4 mobile RF shielded and conditioned computer rooms
housed in 20ft High Cube sea containers. The RFI shielded rooms will
be used to house all the computer systems and have excellent shielding
performances over a large frequency range. To avoid emissions reaching
the sensitive antenna arrays each room is equipped with a RF sluice
to ensure there is always a closed RF shielding.

COMTEST completes installation of 10 shielded rooms for CETECOM GmbH |
|
CETECOM GmbH, Essen Germany has selected Comtest Engineering bv for the supply and installation of shielded rooms for their new telecommunications testing environment.
All rooms are equipped with Comtest full automatic sliding doors including 4-point latching systems. Each chamber can be opened using a card reader system interface which validates the entrance of persons.
